3rd Sustainability Report: concrete results for a responsible future

16/12/2025

We are proud to announce that the Board of Directors has approved our third Sustainability Report. This document is not just a collection of figures, but a transparent testament to our strategic journey “De Rerum Natura”, where textile excellence meets responsibility toward the environment and people.

The past year has been challenging for the industry, yet we chose to accelerate investments in green initiatives and human capital protection, achieving significant milestones.

Here are the key highlights of our year:

1. Environment: fewer emissions, more clean energy

Our commitment to decarbonization has delivered measurable results. We reduced direct emissions (Scope 1) by 30%, thanks to more efficient processes and the elimination of fuel oil. A particularly relevant achievement concerns electricity: in 2024, 61% of our needs were covered by renewable sources, supported by the first full year of operation of our photovoltaic plant.

We also installed a heat recovery system that will be fully operational in 2025, further reducing thermal consumption.

2. Circular economy: “zero landfill” goal achieved

Waste management performance has been excellent: 100% of the waste we generated was sent for recovery. No production scrap was sent to landfill. Water management also improved, with industrial discharges reduced by 6% compared to the previous year.

3. People and community: safety and prevention come first

People are the heart of the Maglificio. We proudly confirm zero workplace injuries in the past 5 years, the result of an ingrained safety culture and over 1,350 hours of training delivered. We invested in wellbeing through concrete initiatives, such as 53 free cancer-prevention services offered to employees in partnership with LILT Biella. Employment stability remains a cornerstone: 90.6% of our workforce is hired on permanent contracts.

4. Product and Innovation: moving toward safer chemistry

We achieved the Advanced level in the 4sustainability® CHEM certification, implementing the ZDHC protocol to eliminate hazardous chemicals.

In addition, we are partners in the European SUMMIT project, studying innovative solutions to counter microplastic release. As our President, Umberto Maggia, emphasizes:

“We are aware that sustainability is not a destination but a journey. This is why we continue to invest in research while staying true to our identity.”
