On October 15, during the MUSEIMPRESA seminar dedicated to corporate archives and business cultural heritage, Maglificio Maggia opened the doors of its facility in Occhieppo Superiore. We welcomed participants to discover our historical archive and manufacturing plant, sharing a story shaped by people, innovation, and textile culture.
Some forms of heritage tell far more than a story: they preserve identities, knowledge, and visions that transcend time. In the Biella textile district, where textile manufacturing has shaped both the landscape and local craftsmanship, corporate memory is a cultural asset and a valuable tool for building the future.
At 3:00 p.m., we welcomed visitors for a guided tour through documents, materials, machinery, and production spaces. Maglificio Maggia has been active in the Biella area since the 18th century and has been led by the Maggia family for nine generations. Our facility in Occhieppo Superiore dates back to 1780 and stands on the banks of the Elvo stream, whose energy powered production for many years.
Touring the mill provided a tangible link between our history and present-day operations: more than 30 circular knitting machines, the laboratory, dyeing department, sampling area, and quality control department, where every fabric piece is carefully inspected before being shipped to the customer.
Our archive is not only a repository of company history, but also a resource for understanding the evolution of both Maglificio Maggia and the Biella region. Preserving memory means valuing our roots and building new perspectives for the future with awareness and purpose.
Our thanks to MUSEIMPRESA and all participants for sharing an afternoon of discovery, discussion, and exchange with us.
